In this unit, you will probably be creating a presentation to tell the class about yourself, your friends and your interests.
Firstly, before you dive into making your presentation, you need to know what your presentation is going to contain.
So let's create a mind map of what information we want to include (I have an example below that was created in Microsoft Word by inserting a diagram).

In Microsoft Word, this is called a radial diagram.
Okay, now you have done that, you need to decide what information is going on each slide. You should plan a minimum of 6 slides - you can print out this slide template. Think about the order of the slides. It would make sense to introduce yourself on the first couple of slides because this presentation is all about you.
If someone else was going to make your presentation, would they be able to make it exactly like you want using just your plan? Probably not. So label your slides so that someone else could make your presentation exactly like you want it. Make sure you mention colour, background and any buttons.
Now you can open PowerPoint.
Tip: Save your PowerPoint presentation as soon as you can. If something goes wrong later on, there will then be less chance of losing your work.
You should see one blank title slide. Add the title of your presentation to the slide and do not forget to mention your name e.g. My Presentation, by Fred Bloggs.
There are four ways to create a new slide, which are shown below. Try each one and do your best to remember at least the first two ways.
Tip: If you want to add (or insert) something new to a slide, you can almost always find it in the Insert menu.
It is important to use colour clearly. If you have a dark-coloured background, use light-coloured text. Or if you have a light-coloured background, use dark-coloured text. You might have a photo as a background, which has light and dark areas. So you will need to make sure that you can read the text over both areas.
It is important for your slides to be consistent. Try to use the same colours and animation on each slide.
Finally, be creative! The presentation is about you and so your presentation should reflect your unique personality and style.
